One Voice Reel. A Hundred-Page Storyboard. Six Pages of Dialogue. Five Performers. One Volume
And MoCap4 at the helm.
The behind-the-scenes footage from Project Raptor is out now. Grab a coffee, because this one's worth a few minutes.

Project Raptor started long before anyone stepped into the volume. It began with a hundred-page storyboard, six pages of dialogue, and a voice reel that was already recorded and locked. Our job for Sparrow Films was to take all of that and bring it to life in a single day.
On the day, five performers moved from quiet character moments into tactical movement and full stunts, often without a cut in between.
Every step, every breath and every hit landed in time with the voice performances. When you watch the finished piece, the body and the voice tell the same story, as if they had always been one performance.
Shaping the physical language of all this was Tom Mitchells, whose movement direction you've already seen in Baldur's Gate III. With Tom guiding the movement, every gesture had a purpose.
Behind the scenes, MoCap4 ran the production:
Pre-production: turning a hundred pages of storyboard into a plan the day could actually run on
1st AD: keeping five performers, a crew and a demanding schedule moving together
Stunt coordination and performers: designing the action and supplying the people who delivered it
Most of that will never show up in the finished animation. But it's what allows performers to commit completely, and it's why an ambitious shoot finishes as a great one.

We know this work from the inside. We've spent over a decade performing in the Volume, on both the acting side and the stunts side, with credits including Dune: Awakening, The Secrets of Dumbledore and a long run of Total War titles. On Project Raptor, we brought all of that to the other side of the monitor.
So if you're sitting on something ambitious, with multiple performers, matched VO, or action that has to carry character, we'd love to hear about it.
See you in the volume.
